I absolutely love showing off my yard now that Sun’s Out has been taking care of it for the last year or so. I have never been able to get it this green and full. Yea, my neighbors are jealous.

About Waukesha, WI

Waukesha, WI is the heart of Waukesha County. Naturally, and respectively, any town that bears the name of the county its in serves as almost the “capitol” of a county. What many people don’t know though, is what Waukesha is all about, and how much of a large part that it plays in the Milwaukee area. As one of the more popular areas of the county, and the heavier populated ones too, Waukesha is home to many various things that make it very famous. In this post, we’re going to talk all about Waukesha, WI and what makes it so special to those who are passing by, and by those who choose to move there as well!

Waukesha History

Waukesha was originally founded in approximately 1834. It was mainly a large forest, and a giant prairie field, in which the inhabitants ended up farming. Eventually, they put up government buildings, and made roads as time grew into more population and the birth of the industrial revolution began. Most of the founders were from New England and Connecticut, as well as rural areas of the other smaller northeastern states. They were known as “Yankees” since they were from that part of the country.

Some Things People Don’t Know

One of the things that people seem to have forgotten, is that Waukesha wasn’t the original town’s name. It eventually because the Town of Prairie Village, then was renamed to Prairieville in 1846. Only a year later was it completely and successfully changed to the town of Waukesha.

Since the History

Waukesha is still one of the leading suburbs of Milwaukee years later. It was in the early 1900s, that Carrol University hosted a college football team from St. Louis University, and their halfback threw the first legal forward pass. Of course, Carroll lost the game, but it is still known and talked about to this day.

A Historical Horror

The area also became popular to some spooky crimes back in 2014. A group of young girls ended up stabbing their friend and leaving her in the forest for the fictional character known as Slenderman. There are also numerous local legends that tell people that certain areas of Waukesha is indeed haunted by ominous figures, so it you’re looking for a safe, but historical place that is home to some amazing ghosts. Halloween definitely does take a special place in people’s hearts in the area.

Conclusion

If you’re wanting to move to a truly historic landmark of the Cheese State (no, that’s not the real name, we know), then you should definitely check out Waukesha, WI!
